Skywatch Friday

As the Autumn leaves change, they surround us with the warm colors of the palette. It seems only necessary to include a fall picture for Skywatch this week - to give thanks and honor to the beauty that surrounds us. If you haven't had a minute to stop and really appreciate the colors this fall, do so today. Like life, everything changes so quickly, and then it's gone.

Skywatch Friday

As of lately here in NW Indiana, the sky hasn't given us much splendor. It has either been very clear or very overcast - with no grey area in between. For a few weeks, I have been trying my best to find SOMEthing to enter in Skywatch Friday but I just wasn't getting the right chance.

About a week ago, I was walking on (dying on) the treadmill in my basement. I happened to look up at the window and noticed the "funny" shade of light coming through. At that point, I knew I needed to get outside - I might have a chance. So, within about 5 minutes, the sky went from the nice blue to ON FIRE! Pleased with my capture, I reluctantly went back to finish my workout. Yeah...whoopee...what fun.

Skywatch Friday

I have been having a rather hard time finding a good "sky" picture as of lately; it has been all sun, no clouds and now strictly rain. So, I've searched the "way back machine" and found this one. By the looks of the land, we were somewhere over northern Mexico. I love this picture as you can see the different layers of the atmosphere as well as the curvature of the Earth. We were WAY up there.

Wondering what other big skies are out there?

Skywatch Friday

For some reason, we tend to catch some beautiful skies over our church across the street. It is interesting how the presence of the cross tends to add a whole new aspect to the photo.

Skywatch Friday

Clouds are rare in Acapulco, Mexico - and normally unwanted while you are there. Though, without the clouds this particular evening, we would not have had such a spectacular sunset. This was taken in February 2008 overlooking Acapulco Bay.

What's happening in other big skies?

Skywatch Friday

Instead of a shot OF the sky, how about a shot FROM the sky. This was taken back in February while flying over the mountains and volcanoes in Mexico.

Excuse me for a moment while I reminisce.

Ok - Want to see what other people are watching?
Check it out!

Skywatch Friday

A sunset like this unheard of in Indiana? NO WAY! Nature finds a way to paint a masterpiece in the sky almost every night of the Midwestern summer...and we love it. Isn't it funny how we all share the same sun, but you can tell where you live by the value of the sunset?
"Only in Indiana..."
